Drum roll please…

I have an exciting announcement for you all this week, one that I have been just dying to write about for weeks because it is all I can think about: Daniel and I are parents! I’m having a baby!!

I must admit that I’m really not enjoying this first trimester of pregnancy, but that’s just not that important—obviously, Daniel and I are both ridiculously excited and happy. I am overwhelmed by the fact that there is, right now, a tiny, brand new human being growing inside of me with its own unique, made-to-live-forever soul! God is so good!

My due date is June 9th, so right now I am eleven weeks along. On Monday of last week I had my first sonogram, which was incredible. The baby really looked like a baby, even at only nine weeks, and we got to see him or her move around, waving one of his arms and wiggling his lower half (for the sake of not getting wordy/awkward, I’ll use masculine pronouns this time, and switch off between the two for other entries). I never knew such a tiny little thing could be so darn cute! We also got to hear his little heartbeat, which is so much faster than mine.

I have another doctor’s appointment this afternoon, which isn’t going to be nearly so fun (in fact, I’m pretty sure it will not be fun at all). I wish I could have a sonogram every time! As far as I know, we won’t have another until around 20 weeks, when they’ll be able to tell the sex of the baby. That will be in January, I think. We haven’t decided for sure yet whether we want to find out or let it be a surprise…

Anyway, please pray for all three of us! I hope you enjoyed our good news—I sure enjoyed writing it. :)

Congratulations!! I have a similar story...My husband and I got married in June of this year, and I am due at the end of April! It's so exciting. I can tell you that the second trimester is certainly better than the first. As long as you keep the baby in mind, you can handle anything.

I really enjoy reading your blog. Keep us updated on the little addition to your family!

Congratulations to you both! It's so funny, I have been following your blog because I got married this summer, and we are also now expecting our first baby in April. So we are both in the same boat! Enjoy this exciting time!

Praise God! Every child is a miracle, a gift of pure love which bespeaks an awesome responsibility. We are inclined to forget that, when miracles abound -- but does not that proliferation speak to the wonders of our God?

I was ready to argue with your use of Ghandi's quotation in your previous blog, but I see that you've already answered my objection. No one person can "be" the change; it must always be a *communion* of persons. In other words, the change must involve purification and renewal in *response* to a relationship. I'm not familiar with the context of the Ghandi quotation, but Christian revelation makes clear that the gift of life is a generous sharing in the Trinitarian communion of God Himself. The life within you, already on a lampstand, is spreading joy.

Hooray! Congrats on this wonderful blessing. We were married 3 1/2 years ago and are expecting Baby #2 at the end of May. So I will certainly remember you in my prayers as we head towards our due dates. Also, I just loved that you used the present tense verb: "are parents." Beautiful and so true!
